Introduction to Pollibuds
Pollibuds are palm sized fairies, who help their environments flourish. They are naturally gifted with the ability to restore and heal injured life forms, because of this pollibuds are often sought after as companions.
Their presence alone can help aid plants growing nearby. Pollibuds can only be seen by organisms that have a strong affinity with nature, this includes most insects and animals. Humans who are out of touch with nature usually cannot see a pollibud.
Pollibuds love nature and the earth, and are happy to help heal an injured animal or restore polluted areas. Pollibuds may be seen whispering in a humans ear, to pick up after themselves if seen littering.
Habitat
Pollibuds usually live anywhere a plant can be found. From a meadow to a forest to an underwater dam to a small garden on a balcony.
Food
Pollibuds prefer nectar and honey as their main food source. They may also drink the water dew left on plants in the morning. However pollibuds are curious creatures and don't mind trying out other foods.
Gender/Reproduction
you may choose your Pollibuds gender, but you may not make your own baby Pollibud
Pollibuds do not have an innate gender, but they may be more feminine than masculine or vise versa.
Reproduction occurs when two Pollibuds intertwine their tails, causing the puffs at the end of their tails to touch. This causes one Pollibud to be pollinated. Eventually the puff on their tail will bloom and wither leaving a seed behind (puff on tail will grow back after seed is removed). The Pollibud then will choose a safe location to plant the seed. Once planted the parent Pollibuds take turns caring for the seed until it sprouts and blooms. When the plant blooms a baby Pollibud will be safely tucked inside the flower head.
Twins/Triplets/Quadruples/ect - Rarely occurs, the rarity of the pollibud determines the % chance ect 3 star = 30% chance. Both parents must have the same number of tails/puffs.
Life-Stress/Changes
when a Pollibud is going through life changes (like moving, falling in love ect) it'll go into a budding state (flowers on head will close) and then rebloom when the Pollibud has completed the change. These budding phases can be biennial, annual, monthly, etc depending on the self stability of the Pollibud.
Changes that are too extreme (ex. chemical poisoning) for the Pollibud to handle can cause the Pollibud to go into a state of dormancy. Essentially during dormancy a Pollibud will expand and encase itself inside their wings. And will only emerge when they have accepted the change or the change has gone away.
Pollibuds have no real predators and usually live forever. The only way to kill a Pollibud is to remove their wings entirely. Becoming wingless is too burdensome of a change for a Pollibud to handle with the budding state alone. Eventually wingless Pollibuds will die from stress.
Flowers
Pollibuds may pluck their flowers off to gift to other organisms to show affection. Flowers will re bloom again.
Wings
Pollibud wings are flexible and can harden when in danger. Pollibud wings also emit small particles which hold healing/restoration abilities. Due to these abilities pollibuds are often sought after as companions/workers in hospitals, farms, or for private work for warriors, guards, ect.
Physical Traits
All Pollibuds have
-can switch between 2 and 4 arms
-minimum of 2 eye
-wings
-tail
-flower buds on their head (all Pollibuds have a bud and bloom state)
-leaf ears
-they smell nice, like flowers
Clothes
It is up to the individual Pollibud whether or not it prefers clothes. Owners of a Pollibud are free to make their Pollibuds clothes or remove their Pollibuds clothes, as long as physical traits remain the same.
Sprouties
a subspecies of pollibuds. small bean familiars that love to burry themselves in the dirt to keep cool.
they hold the same healing/restoration power that pollibuds do in their wings but at a smaller scale.
